Dear friends, we hope that those of you who have attended have liked last week’s screening of Euro-Mernet Film Club: “I am not Your Negro” (by James Baldwin) and the poetry reading by our dear guest poet friends Alanna and Rodney.
On Tuesday, 3rd October 2017, at our usual great venue The Blue Man, we greeted the beginning of Black History Month UK and its 30th anniversary, and we encouraged our guests and all local contacts to attend the Black History Family Day, organised by our dear friends at Brighton & Hove Black History Month team.
Here are a few photos to help remember that night with a smile on our faces.
For our friends who couldn’t attend: at last week’s film club gathering we have also announced the title for the next film screening on 7th November, “The Other Side of Hope”, a social drama and comedy about Syrian refugees in Helsinki, Finland.
We have further announced the same evening that we will be observing the 9th November, the International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism, coordinated by UNITED For Intercultural Action and No Hate Speech Movement (NHSM) campaign of the Council of Europe.
