On Saturday, 30th September 2017, the Homage to Brighton event brought together poets, musicians and poetry & music lovers for celebrating our multi-cultural city and that always shows support and solidarity with the local and global communities. The event was planned to coincide with the poetry events series across the world throughout week, globally coordinated by the 100 Thousand Poets for Change initiative.
We have been proudly supporting the preparatory work for this event for the last few months. We ploughed through the poems in Euro-Mernet Poetry Club archives and we read out a few poems.
Our message at the event was as follows: “Only an understanding through love and respect can liberate our souls… and poetry and music are among two important gateways to this destination.”
Thanks to all of the organising team members, volunteers, poets, musicians and guests of the event – most primarily to Tony, Alanna and Dawn… and to the poets Akila, Alanna, Rod, Duane, Charlie, Adam, Paul, Umit, Jilliana, Tim, Terry and Susi.
Love, peace and solidarity.
